SHAARAI SHOMAYIM VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

CHILD CARE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED OVER HOLIDAYS

We need volunteers to help care for some of our youngest members while the parents participate in the high holiday services, over Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Our volunteers will help implement story time, an age-appropriate craft, and snack centered around the holiday. Click here to volunteer for a two-hour window.

High holiday child care is offered for children 18 months - 8 years. Volunteers are welcome to bring their younger children with them.

Babysitting services will be led by your Temple Family members (and young mothers) Heather Appelbaum Smith and Gina Krouse. For additional questions or concerns, please contact Gina Krouse at ginapeterman@yahoo.com / 215-806-2770.

YOM CHOICE INSTRUCTORS WANTED AT SH'ARIM

We are eagerly waiting for the start of what promises to be an exciting year with Sh'arim. One of the activities we would like to expand this year is Yom Choice. Yom Choice is planned two days over the course of our year, one on December 10 and the other on March 25. During each of those days, we want to present a wonderful opportunity for our students to select from a list of unique and different learning experiences. We started this program last year and found great success as our students were engaged as well as presenters found fulfillment working with the students.

During our Yom Choice Days last year, we offered a variety of learning options for our students as they engaged in a 45 minute period of on hands learning. Last year, we included things like flower arranging, cooking, wood working, havdalah candle making, archival study and many more offerings. We want to reach out to the congregation hoping that someone has a hobby, an interest they would like to share in a meaningful learning experience.

If you have additional questions or wish to help with our students, please contact Bob Houghton at La6756@gmail.com.

COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

NEW SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER DATES ANNOUNCED

Wittel Farm has additional acreage this year; therefore, needed more help. The next harvest dates are Sunday, September 17 and Sunday, October 1. If you want to participate the morning or afternoon on these dates, RSVP your preferred date, time, and number of people in your party to Jill Weisberg at bellallure1@aol.com.

Directions: The Wittel Farm is located at 1753 Mill Road, Elizabethtown, PA 17022. The farm is well marked with a sign by the driveway entrance, and the garden is easy to find as it is immediately on the right as you pull in. Parking is on the right side of the driveway, or in front of the barn which you can see as you pull in. Park your car and head over to the garden where someone from the farm will be there to explain and guide you through the process.

Dress: Wear closed-toed shoes rather than flip flops or sandals. Sneakers work well.

Thank you for your continued support with this project!

MITZVAH DAY PARTNERSHIPS

We have developed a contact directory of the local organizations we used for Mitzvah Day projects for your consideration of extended community service. Each of these agencies welcomes volunteer help throughout the year. We encourage you to take advantage of the spirit of Mitzvah Day and do good deeds throughout the year.

Click here to see the list and found out how to get involved.
